Chetan Sakariya Profile, Biography, Carrer, IPL Insights

Chetan Sakariya was born on 28 February 1998 in Gujarat, India. He is a 23 years old left-arm medium-fast bowler and left-hand batsman in the field of domestic cricket. Chetan’s father, Kanjibhai Sakariya previously worked as a Tempo driver until his son became successful enough to bring his family out of the darkness of poverty.

Chetan along with his sister Jignasha Sakariya and his brother Rahul was raised in a very financially unstable house. Chetan completed his primary education at Vidya Vihar High School located in Bhavnagar.

Although he was a brilliant kid and good at studies, he desired to walk on a different path and wanted to make cricket his center of interest. He always believed in himself that if he worked hard, he could prove himself as a committed and passionate emerging player for the cricket team.

During the early childhood days, Chetan Sakariya used to play cricket with his friends at a local level and he was also a part of his school cricket team.

He got a chance to prove his real talent when he was playing a cricket match; representing his school in a district tournament.

Luckily, Chetan Sakariya through his cricket skills attracted a very successful coach named Rajendra Gohil who worked at Sir Bhavsinhji Cricket Academy in those times. Afterward, Chetan Sakariya joined the same academy and started enhancing his skills under the guidelines of his coach Rajendra Gohil.

This was the very first step Chetan taken towards professional practice and learning for his better cricket future.

Early Struggle

Chetan’s financial condition never allowed him to move on the path of professional cricket easily. His parents considered cricket as a sport of financially stable people who could conveniently afford to live their dreams.

Chetan never received any proper cricket training until the age of 16 and before the time he used to practice by playing with the tennis ball. After completing the 12th standard in science, Chetan’s parents advised him to become a good engineer but Chetan had different plans for himself.

It was Chetan’s maternal uncle, Mansukh Bhai, who provided him with a simple job at his stationery shop located at Bhavnagar to help the young boy. His uncle paid for his tuition fee and allowed the youngster to play cricket in return for some work at his stationery shop.

Chetan worked with his uncle for almost two years and later, he decided to quit the job.
