Former English cricketer Geoffrey Boycott feels that Joe Root was by no means the proper match for England’s Check captaincy. He feels that though Root was admired by many due to his conduct, he didn’t have the pre-emptive mind to be a Check skipper.

Root stepped down as England’s Check captain on April 16. The 31-year-old had succeeded Alastair Cook dinner because the captain in 2017 and concluded his tenure with most matches (64) and most wins (27) as an English Check skipper.
